What is color analysis?

The science behind colors that flatter you

Color analysis — also known as seasonal color analysis or colorimetry — is a method that identifies which colors harmonize best with your natural skin tone, hair, and eye color. By analyzing your skin's undertone (warm, cool, or neutral), depth (light or dark), and contrast level, it becomes possible to determine a personal color palette that enhances your appearance and makes you look more vibrant, rested, and put-together.

Our free color analysis test uses pixel-level skin tone detection to classify you into one of eight color seasons — the same framework used by professional image consultants. Whether you're a Warm Autumn, Clear Spring, Cool Winter, or any of the other seasons, each has a distinct palette of colors that naturally complement your complexion.

Wearing the right colors doesn't just improve how you look — it affects how others perceive you. Colors from your season make your skin appear clearer, your eyes more vivid, and your overall presence more energized. Colors outside your palette, on the other hand, can cast shadows, create an ashen effect, or simply compete with your natural features rather than supporting them.

Skin Undertone

Your undertone — warm (golden/peachy), cool (pink/bluish), or neutral — is the single most important factor in determining which color families work for you. Our test detects this from the pixel values in your photo.

Color Depth

Whether your natural coloring is light, medium, or deep determines how saturated and contrasting your best colors should be. Dark seasons thrive in rich, intense hues while light seasons glow in softer tones.

The 8 Color Seasons

From Clear Spring to Dark Winter, each season has a curated palette of 30–60 colors. Knowing your season is a lifelong guide for wardrobe, makeup, hair, and even home décor choices.

Why It's Free

Professional color analysis sessions can cost $150–$400. We built this free test to make colorimetry accessible to everyone — no account, no subscription, no data uploaded to any server.
